You guys ever get a “tip request” at a self serve kiosk?

I was traveling through airport in California and stopped for a soda and snack at a self serve kiosk.

It prompted me for a 10 vs 20 vs 25% tip.

Is this real in other parts of the country? I am just curious who would receive this tip? There was no human anywhere around me.

Just something that made me laugh. Not trying to start a “outlaw tipping debate”.

I tend not to tip when it's asked for.

More like insisted on

Just the tip. Just to see how it feels.

Probably using a POS meant for actual dining.

I experienced this at MSY at one of the shops near the cafe du monde.

I was somewhere and it was a completely self serve area that was kind of U shaped. You walked in one way and had to funnel around to the self checkouts to get out. There were employees standing there watching you check out and the machine immediately asked for a 20, 25 or 30% tip when I hit pay. I had to hit several buttons to do away with the tip option, I might have even had to ask how to not tip.

The business owner, aka the person who pays the transaction fees and gets the transaction proceeds.

Some of them might share with employees, but they are under no obligation to do so and most do not.

Refuse to go to bear car because of the "employee" fund. Largest crock of shite.

Red Bird or whatever in Covington.

Place my own order, serve my own drink.

Kiosk asked for tip, so I wiped the screen off for it.

Shitty chicken BTW.
