Keep an eye on things. I know it's predicted to be nice on Saturday, but they've been terribly wrong the last few weeks.
Of course the only day this week I absolutely cannot fish is Saturday.

Absolutely! I’ll be following another guy who’s made the trip quite a few times and the heron 16 can actually take a pretty good chop if things get gnarly.

Yea I'm sure I'll have a backlash or two. It's been many years since I threw baitcasters all day. I'll also have a couple of Shimano Calcutta 100b reels and a couple of spinners in case I get tired of the baitcasters. Thanks for all the input and recommendations so far. I think I was 18 or 19 the last time I fished Chandeleur (I'm 52 now) My Pop's cousin ran the Becuna for decades out there. My Grandad and his brother built the Becuna in the backyard on Rodenburg avenue when my dad was a kid. Lot of great memories on that boat growing up.
Speckdawg and Halltiger please report back if you get out there this weekend. Thanks again

Nice! Perfect time of year to go to the Chandeleurs
Last time I went I only took one lure. Trout Support Lures. White in color. Bone Diamond OR chicken on a chain. With weightless trocar hooks 3/0 and 5/0. And then the same trocar hooks with a small weight for when it gets super windy near the cut
Literally all you need to slam fish all day

I got on those a few years ago with the weightless trocars. I bought them to walk the dog over floating grass. Never had much look with trout with them but quickly realized they are money when sight casting to redfish over grass flats in 1-2 foot of water..

If you haven't done so, pick up a copy of Rudy Grigar's book Plugger. His stories through out the book are amazing, but the chapter(s) on his time living on a mother ship in the Chandeleur's is special.

I would sooner leave the plug out of the boat rather than not make 200 casts with a mullet Skitterwalk. Its mental at this point, but I probably fish it 90% of the time im on the water.

Saskwatch, you still going? And are you from MS? I’ll be going down with a guy from MS. Job Miller will be heading there with us. Stop by if you see us for sure

Yep from Ms and been fishing out there all my life. Riding on the ol’ man’s boat and meeting him at the dock early AM. Had some good reports from today. Hopefully more of the same tomorrow.

Didn't run near that far, but caught a bunch on far east side of the B marsh yesterday evening. Full moon next week should really turn it on.

I hope you aren’t out there today, long open water run in a short boat.

Caught quite a few yesterday but never really got on the size we were looking for . Handful around the 18-19” mark but most 14-15” with quite a few dinks
