That’s why this team is 3-12 in the SEC.

All three have been a massive disappointment this year. This team would look a lot different if they had made the expected jump. It’s really that simple.

For Hurd to go from starting national title game to not seeing the mound against Tenn is pretty bad
Unless he has an injury Jay hasn't speculated on

on top of that he is giving Moffett and Cam Johnson innings to try and keep them out of the portal because pitchers who can throw 95+ are a premium

You can't point only to them.

But, all 3 of those guys were counted on to take a significant step forward.

2 took a step backwards. 1 looks like he'll never take a step forward.

You left out Neal and his .97 SEC batting average.

I think you can go down the entire roster and find issues with everyone except maybe Holman.

Neal - can't hit anything outside of mediocre pitching.
Jones - leads in Ks (expected), and hasn't come through much in clutch spots.
Milam - struggling against SEC pitching.
Braswell - defense has been abysmal
White - hard to believe just looking at his numbers, but he's actually having a down year compared to his first two.
Travinski - lazy, apathetic

Pitching across the board has been extremely inconsistent.

I would say Hurd, Kling, and Neal but we can go all 4 if you want. This is the truth though. Everybody else on the team is doing what you should have expected out of them-- or at the very least it isn't surprising. Although I am pretty surprised by Justin Loer also...

Offensively, you're getting what you should have expected from White, Jones, Travinski, Bingham, Braswell, Milazzo, Frey, Milam, Brown, Ruddell, Kucherak, and Nippolt. Even Pearson put up similar numbers last year before the postseason and wasn't a super highly ranked recruit so I'm not overly surprised by his continued mediocrity. Larson has been a nice surprise lately. Kling and Neal are supposed to be top 6 guys in the order and they can't do anything.

Pitching, Holman and Jump have given you solid performance. Hurd has been a huge disappointment. Herring has been a nice surprise. Loer's been a disappoinment. Everybody else is not surprising.

I wouldn't even single out individual players, to be honest. It's the whole team, from coaches on down.

I'm not able to pull the actual numbers, but I get the impression that if the games ended after 3 innings, we'd still be top 5, and after 6 innings we'd still be in line to host a regional. I don't know about the games we got run-ruled (there are 3 of them), but in almost ALL the rest, we're in good shape. Usually up a run or so, and almost never down more than 1.

But then it all goes to hell. If we're up 1, we will lose by 2. Our bats die against the opponents' bullpens, while our bullpen is good to give up 2-4+ a game. Every coaching move Johnson makes- shifts in the field, pitching changes (or leaving a guy in), called bunts, pinch hitting etc- every move has been wrong.
I've never seen an LSU team so consistently fail in every aspect from the 6th inning on like this one does.
