Know nothing about this franchise. So is it worth a watch from someone with no idea about anything to do with the lore?

Wife and I are desperate for something new to watch so I figured I could try talking her into this one

From what I've read, it's just good television, so I'd say so. I love the games so I've been a bit curious how it holds up with the non game fans. But all of the fallout games are standalone stories in the same world, as is the show, so you'll be fine. There will be some references and easter eggs you won't catch but that won't take away from it.

It's a gruesome and gory show. The games are as well but it never really registered that these are essentially horror games until I saw it in live action.

Hadn’t played a single game and only knew the general premise of the setting. Greatly enjoyed the show.

I'm someone who didn't play the games (too old, I guess)...

My answer is hell yes. Great classic sci fi premise, with fantastic execution of the story and high production standards.

I also didn't play but did watch HALO, and my impression was that that had some potential, but fumbled a good bit on the execution. You kinda had to know something of the games to get what was going on, but the gamers didn't like the way they adapted the story.

In this, you really don't need to know the games. It's pretty straightforward what the background story is (that sets the stage), and then they do a good job of developing the different characters (I guess those would be player classes). You really get to know and like at least 2 of the 3, I think there's some hesitance to embrace one of them... but that one may be written that way intentionally.

What's great is you can't really find an agenda... there are some things that clearly could be, but then don't develop that way.
