Hey All!
First time staying in BR, first LSU home game. Would love any and all advice about where to stay, where to eat, what to do, etc.
Planning on flying into Nola on Thursday (flying to BR from LA is brutal) then just taking a bus up to BR Friday, then back out Sunday afternoon (hoping the bus drops me at the airport).
Really appreciate any and all help!

Stay Downtown or off the College Dr and I-10 hotels or L'auberge Casino
Hilton Downtown
BR Marriott College Dr Coporate
Courtyard Downtown Baton Rouge
Hampton Inn Downtown
Crowne Plaza College Drive
-Away from Campus-"suburban" part of town -Bluebonnet-Mall/Shopping Restaurants
Not a Real option-Choose Something Downtown or Off College Dr to be closer to campus, In my opinion- but a nice hotel- Renaissance Hotel

Don't rent a car in New Orleans, it will get stolen.

Eat at Mike Anderson's seafood restaurant

Tailgate with the fine folks in the area called The Bottom

A bus from New Orleans to Baton Rouge does not sound like a good idea, unless it's a bus rented out by a larger group?
I'd rent a car.
L'Auberge Casino is Baton Rouge is a nice hotel option for game weekends if available. Otherwise Renaissance on Bluebonnet is a good one as well.

Stay in New Orleans- so much to do and see
Skip Baton Rouge entirely aside from the actual game

Is it just you? Family? Kids? Friends? That would determine a lot of what you can/should do.

No way.
Rent a car at the airport on Friday. Return it on Sunday.
Baton Rouge is not a walking city. You need a car to get anywhere.

There is nothing like a nice late night walk down Plank Road
Find a nice AirB&B on a street named after a president or Indian tribe. They may be a little pricey but it promises to be a great time.
Bring your own piss balloons to the game, most fans won’t share theirs.

Just me and a friend. Was thinking an airbnb. Mostly eating and boozing, unless there's stuff I have to see. Thanks!

Some actual answers...
Transport:
Rent a car in NOLA and drive - return on Sunday unless you're with a group on the bus.
If you're thinking AirBnB, around campus is fine as long as you avoid Gardere/Lee area. I'd stick around campus, Downtown, Spanishtown, Garden District, or somewhere a bit further around Kennilworth, Perkins, or Oak Hills Place.
Hotels:
- WATERMARK Hotel
- Origin Hotel
- Sonesta ES Suites
- Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center
Where to Eat:
Breakfast
- Louie's Cafe
- Coffee Call
- The Ruby Slipper
Lunch and Dinner
- The Chimes - Highland Rd
- Elsie's Plate & Pie
- Bellue's Cajun Cuisine
- City Slice
- Jolie Pearl Oyster Bar
- The Little Village
Things to Do:
-LSU Football Game (of course) + Tailgate in the RV lot or around the Parade Grounds.
-Watch the band come down Victory Hill and perform pregame outside the stadium; swing by Mike's Cage and there will probably be some craziness outside the PMAC with bands/vendors.
-Get some beers at Rally Cap Brewing or Tin Roof Beer.
-See the Louisiana State Capitol via the Observation Deck.
-Visit Magnolia Mound Plantation.
-Check out the USS Kidd Veterans Museum near the river - though it may be leaving the dock before the game comes around.
Enjoy, welcome, and Geaux Tigers!
