This is the information that needs to be known. If it was just like a few seconds difference between "who ordered first" then I'd say the expectation is clearly a zipper merge.
If the old guy was waiting to pull up for like a minute or more (which seems doubtful, knowing how fast those lines usually move), then I would say the expectation would be for him to go first.

Well, I'm under the assumption that I didn't need to say that the ordering had already taken place, you know, at the point where the two lines merge... well after the ordering spots. At least at the Chick Fil-A's in our area.
