No just a weak fly ball. But fortunately there was a runner on third

Serious question as a non-Astros fans who has watched a couple of games this season. This slow start is more of a fluke than anything, right? Yeah, you guys likely weren't World Series contenders coming into this season, but that roster isn't THIS bad.

The roster isn’t this bad, but the pitching staff currently is

It’s not that bad no. BUT its issues are worrisome. They are top 10 in most traditional offensive categories. They don’t strike out, they dont really walk either, and they don’t hit the ball all that hard.

That’s just a recipe for not being successful with RISP. They aren’t bad due to lack of opportunity, BUT they have roster issues if the guys they need to hit don’t hit (Breg and Chas) and Abreu is just washed garbage.

Bullpen coughed up a couple games, but that could be pinned on the offense too because most of those games had just horrendous RISP at bats with tons of opportunity. The starters had been fine up until Brown, Henley, and Arraghetti’s starts. It’s been a weird two weeks

Nope. The offense is doing what it was to close out last season. Dicking around unable to hit with RISP. Front office let 200 innings of middle relief walk away and tried to replace them with waiver claims. We've got a rotations worth of pitchers on the IL (Verlander, Framber, Garcia, McCullers, Urquidy) and the minor league pitching depth to replace them is mediocre.

Call it a fluke if you think the offense is too talented to be pissing away games like this but it's not exactly a surprise that they're doing this.

Blow it up. You could stock the farm system pretty well trading Bregman, Tucker, Yordan, Pressley, Pena, B Abreu, Framber and Javi. Even see if you could get anything for Meyers.

Only two teams with better odds were LA and Atl

The would be entire starting rotation except for one guy is on the IL. Guys that would have been pen help are having to start.

Our situational hitting is complete arse.

Meh, you guys entered today with an even run differential despite your pitching woes. I think you're a little too hard on the bats.

That was probably on name recognition more than anything though.

Two of the wins were by a combined 18 runs. But that’s what this team has been going on two years now. Just inconsistent game to game.

We've had games of 10, 10 and 8. 3 games make up 54% of our runs this year.

In the losses it's been 4 runs, 1 run, 3 runs, 3 runs, 1 run, 2 runs, 2 runs, and 3 runs and looking like another clunker tonight. We've lost 8 games of 12 games, all of them scoring 4 runs or fewer. Many of them shitting on RISP opportunities.

That inning was a perfect example of this shitshow.

Peña first pitch swinging
Chas first pitch swinging (he did get a hit)
Abreu first pitch swinging
Abreu 0-2 swinging
Meyers first pitch swinging.

All of that after a lead off single from Yainer

2/9 with RISP. And one didn't score a run.

I don't want to dig through the shite to find it but I'd be curious how many of our RISP hits didn't score a run. I know there's been several. Penas little dribbler to 3rd tonight with Yainer on 2nd. The ball where Bregman hit Altuve and got credited with a RISP single.

The amount of hits we get with runners on second and they don’t score is off the charts.

Don’t forget Dubon getting thrown out by Soto’s bouncing throw.

Espada has conceded defeat in the fricking 7th inning. Pinch hitting for Altuve and Alvarez.

But he's probably right.
