The “perfection” is referring to how the size of the visible moon exactly matches the size of the visible sun. If it didn’t, you couldn’t see the corona.

if the earth/moon was larger I would think the light would still bend around it causing a corona effect.
is that not true?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the corona is due to our atmosphere deflecting light in billions of directions from the sun to us...to give the appearance of a corona. If there was a vacuum between us and the sun there would be no corona, right?
