well if that's the case, then i guess i retract my statement about leaning towards self defense.
Why? He was being surrounded and pulled out the utility knife he had with him. He didn't use it until he was attacked. He didn't brandish it in a threatening manner. He held it in his hand, by his side, in case he needed to use it.

I would have pulled a knife on those screaming hyenas as well.

yeah i just watched it again, and i'm taking back my take-back. even if he ran up on them at the beginning of the video for whatever reason, he was clearly not a threat immediately after that. they then started to encircle him and yell, getting closer and closer to him. so even if that is the point that he pulled the knife, that seems perfectly reasonable as a defensive measure.
i'm back on team self defense. but it is still a really weird series of events in the video.

Yeah, most of the decisions made here don’t make a ton of sense.
I guess that’s true almost anytime someone gets killed by someone else.

all of this is really strange all around.
bunch dumb decisions one after another from every group.
wish we had video of what happened a minute or 2 before all of this.

I’ve been watching the trial.
The 2 white trash brothers showed up with their buddy that got disemboweled and escalated everything.

Everyone is drunk.

well the black dude on the stand admitted he made up the story about him taking pics of the girls to 'rile everyone up'.
but those morons in this thread keep defending these teenage pieces of shite. FAFO indeed.

I don't understand why this is even going to trial.
Apparently, he didn’t simply just look for a phone. He reached into the kids pockets and such “looking for the phone”
Still don’t think there is anyway he is guilty

Watching the video man...I don't know.
It looks like he easily could have walked away, there wasn't like 5 guys just all pummeling him on the ground. It was bizarre series of events from him.
A lot more questionable than the OP makes it seem imo

Seems pretty clear this will be a Not Guilty.
It should be. Best I can tell from watching 5 days of the trial is the judge is showing a lot of favoritism to the DA
The facts show it was self defense. Especially when yellow shorts guy was trying to push his head under water.
There are 2 groups. The high school kids and the white trash krewe that injected themselves in the matter. If they mind their own business, everyone goes home.

This was my first time watching this video (without sound) and I guess I am just missing it. He acted bizarrely and it certainly seemed to me he could have gotten out of that situation fairly easily.
I expected like 5 guys just absolutely pummeling him and he as to come out swinging with his knife.
I didn't see his life being in danger, but I guess I have to watch it again.

He should have simply just left
But legally speaking, he doesn’t have to

I have a hard time believing the last just based on the video.

Isn't this in Wisconsin?
They don't have a stand your ground law, and he wasn't in his swelling or MV or place of business.

Getting pushed down in water and punched in the face while lying in water absolutely to me meets that requirement
Posted on 4/8/24 at 3:18 pm to Fun Bunch
The 2 brothers are beating him while their disemboweled friend kept trying to force his head under water.
3 guys physically assaulting you in a body of water while 10 others yell like a pack of hyenas.
What more has to happen before you think he has a right to defend himself?

I understand the kids were drinking but why were they calling him a pedophile and raper? Was it just because he had the goggles on and was looking under the water?
They thought he was snorkeling under the water to look at the girls on the tubes.

The dude told a bunch of other dudes who are drinking that an older man is taking pictures of girls. You would only say that to incite some sort of reaction from the guys.
