I was about to correct you on that, but double checked (so I didn’t look like an idiot) and sure enough, 1999.
But yeah it’s a great movie that gets overlooked.

I was excited about this until I realized it was a remake. I thought it was going to follow one of the other Ripley books.
I thought the first episode was slow and boring.

Am I the only one who didn’t enjoy the Netflix series?
To go from Phillip Seymour to some non binary try hard was hysterical. I enjoyed the black and white and some of the pacing/vibe but just a downgrade from the movie. It’s just a story that doesn’t merit a series.
I agree with ya

Talented Mr. Ripley was a great movie. Awesome cinematography. Great acting by all three of the main characters.

Started this series last night, pretty good. Definitely better than I was expecting.
Casting of Freddy was bad, but other than that very solid series.
While I like the movie, I think the series is better than the movie. Some very tense/stressful moments in this series.

Just finished it tonight. It’s done Film Noir style, and all Black and White, except one small scene. Which turns out to be insignificant which is disappointing. It is aggravatingly slow and drags out WAY too long over 8 episodes. Lead character Ripley does a decent job but gets to be annoying. At some points it seems like a comedy. Dakota Fanning is good. Stings adult child is in it. John Malcovich makes cameo in the last episode. I recall liking the movie from years ago, but not so much for this remake. Disappointing overall.
