Aside from some minor nitpicks, this is actually a pretty good list all things considered.
It’s clear natural beauty and sporting events factor heavily on his list, whereas he admits he didn’t take dining into consideration. I would’ve had Louisiana a bit higher simply by virtue of New Orleans.

Just New Orleans alone makes Louisiana at least top... 30ish? Certainly top 40. And if you like the outdoors at all it goes up from there.
nola is a shithole and makes us last.
atchafalaya basin, avery island, cajun food, and real south louisiana mardi gras without all the cultcha bring us back up a little.

That guy and you guys want to rip on La, but New Orleans alone makes la higher.
Tell me one good reason to go New Hampshire/ Conn / Maryland/ Virginia / Kansas / Missouri and good lord Mississippi or Iowa.

Hawaii is one note as you state.
Is it? There are beaches, rain forests, mountains, and even red rock canyons on Kauai. Hell, it even snows at the peak of the Big Island.
ETA: it's definitely not as varied as California, but I don't think it's "one note" either.

What am I missing in regards to NW Arkansas? It’s not Tennessee. Drive a little further and go to Branson which is much prettier. It doesn’t have the culture of Louisiana. If you go more towards the center, Hot Springs was ok but I would be fine if I never went back. Circle Little Rock and ask yourself if we really need it?
Granted, Louisiana has its issues and a majority of the state is useless, but what it does have to offer can’t be found in any other state.
I just don’t see anything special for Arkansas. I guess bc I live in Tennessee and there isn’t anything Arkansas can offer me that I can’t experience here or within a 3 he drive. Maybe it’s just me but when I rank places, I also factor in how much I would want to go back.
This. I've visited Hot Springs, White Rock Mountain, Mountain View, Compton and The Buffalo River, Eureka, Fayetteville-Bentonville, and so on...don't get me wrong. It's nice and pleasant. It's better than what Baton Rouge has to offer.
However, it's hard to justify going back with Tennessee and North Carolina, both of which are tremendously better, are just a little bit further. You've got the Ozarks? Great. They've got the Smokey's. That whole northern Georgia, Eastern Tennessee and Western NC area is drastically superior than Arkansas imo.

Yeah, California > Alaska. You may not like the people or their politics, but California > all.

Yeah from a visitors perspective California offers just about everything you could possibly want.
Overall I don’t think his list is terrible. I’d probably rank Nevada lower and put North Carolina in the top 5. Maybe move Texas up as well.

Why Maryland? It has mountains, ocean, incredible bay, Annapolis, great healthcare, multiple airports, DC for musuems …..
And I live here and can’t wait to get out but there’s a ton to do

That may be. I have personally traveled to almost 30 countries and over 30 states. But it is clear he has never visited one of the, if not THE most magical place on earth.
Early morning, a very light fog flowing gently across the surface of the water. The sky lights up with pink, orange and radiant blues as the sun breaks over the cypress trees. Not far off, a hidden bull gator grunts, sending vibrations in the water that can surely be felt miles away. The deep thumping of a great blue heron wings taking flight keeps a bass note for nature’s symphony with the constant high pitch chittering of the countless coots looking for breakfast along the bank. Pouring a cup of coffee from your thermos gives the perfect accompaniment to the salty breeze mixed with varying balance of smells of life and death.
There is no place on earth that I would rank higher than the Atchafalaya Basin on a crisp spring morning.
Forget New Orleans and food those are lagniappe. The state is known as “sportsman’s paradise “ for a reason. And if he didn’t visit it, he missed out.
