If you want to read one of the craziest damn stories of the week, read the one below. An MDWFP wildlife commissioner has been charged with hunting turkeys over baited land.

Baited with crickets.

As a government-hating American to my core who absolutely despises a politician and his bureaucrat, I'm conflicted. As it stands, I say, let them eat their own. outdoorlife.com

I could be wrong on this but I've heard there are some pretty powerful people that want him out because they believe he's unqualified.

There is definitely a lot more going on behind the scenes on this one. Only privileged parties would know.

Live or dead crickets? How many crickets does it take to bait turkeys? So many questions….. also if they are live is that even in the legal definition of baiting?

Sounds like a set up to me when you read the whole article.

Tipoffs
Primos
Don’t like him.

You see this going on with certain politicians right now.

A conspiracy to get the guy is evident.

The true crime here is converting crickets into Turkeys instead of bream. I don't know about Mississippi but its getting damn near impossible to buy crickets in Georgia and South Carolina when the bream are biting...using them in any manner other that which god intended they be used for, catching big ole titty bream, is a sin.

Anyone who knows and/or hunted with politicians or lawmen know good and well that many of them are into these types of things often. Abuse of power and position is rampant. We all know it, most have seen it first hand, but we all just let it ride.

What likely happened here was he ticked off the wrong individual(s) and they called him in on something that has been known for years.

Ok, lets be logical. The ONLY way this could have been discovered is by word of mouth. In no way could a game warden walk into a field and find that it has been BAITED with crickets.

Somebody rolled or set this ole baw up big time. He is definitely guilty, but I promise phones are ringing everywhere

Turkey trot lines baited with crickets was a running joke for a while on the Georgia Outdoors board. I didn't realize people actually did that.

Never trust a crooked cricket dealer, they'll flip on you in a second.

That's the craziest thing I've heard. No way it sticks unless they have some video evidence or found the crickets in some sort of weird turkey feeder contraption.

We are all supposed to search for bugs now to make sure we aren't hunting dirty. Someone hooked that old boy up within a month of his re-confirmation.
