I like Sloan a lot after listening to his presser today

Very intelligent in what he’s talking about. Love his vision for the transition of the offense. He seems confident in Lacy and Hilton stepping up and becoming high draft picks next year.
You can tell he’s both a professional and a players coach. We may not be the overall number 1 offense in the nation but I can see lsu being top 10-15 this year.
Can’t wait to see Bakers presser next

We have a TON of talent on offense again. It wont be last years squad, and we will miss JDs legs but our WR room is strong, and this might be the best o-line we have had in a long time

LSU is losing vast production offensively, but what people don’t realize is different doesn’t mean bad. LSU will play to their strengths this season. They will run the ball, powered by the best offensive line in the country. Nuss will be a legit top 10 QB this season. If Lacy, Hilton, and a couple of the young WR’s can take a step up, LSU will have a top 5-10 offense in the country. We run Kelly’s system now.

This is why LSU fans have unrealistic expectations. You are replacing a ton this year on the offensive side of the ball.

We’re replacing a ton of talent with talent. I’ll agree that we are replacing a lot of experience. Lacy has the tools to replace Nabers. We will miss the big body of BTJ for sure and a heisman winner. There’s a lot of leadership on the field though and an OC that can adapt to his players abilities

Oh another retard comment from this guy. You calling shots based off comments at a presser.

It's the same thing with baseball this year. You are replacing a bunch of experienced, proven players with a bunch of unproven "talent". Replacing multiple 1st round picks and coaches isn't as easy as some of y'all think it is.
Judging by this comment from you at the beginning of the season, you don't understand how hard it is to replace elite players

Um Kling made a pretty fricking great play in center field. I think we have a pretty great replacement for Crews

quote:losing two first rd WR’s and a Heisman winner QB is going to set LSU back offensively. Top 10-15 is still averaging 34-35 points a game. Thats highly unlikely with Nuss being a first year starting QB and a new group of WR’s if Sloan is able to have this offense in the top 45 that would be a huge success.

I’ve made comments on Kling on his batting since then. The comment you quoted was early on in the outfield. His outfield play is on par with Crews but no one gets on base like Crews and that’s sorely missed. Kling stalls every offensive chance for the team
Didn’t think I’d be attacked for liking the OC but surprising

Just saying, Jake Peetz also sounded impressive in his pressers...

You aren't being attacked for liking the OC. You are talking about LSU having a top 10-15 offense in the nation and I think that's a pretty absurd thing to be talking about at this point.

Or… we could be the number one offense in the country this year.

I really wanna see us start to use the freaks we have at TE. It'll be a different look offense obviously. And we have some scary young talent aT TE.

I sure hope we do run the ball, though our RB depth worries me.. especially if Trey Holly can't play

I hope Sloan is awesome but I’m going to wait until I see what he puts on the field before deciding if I like him.

Yeah but I've liked plenty of other assistants speak as well and some turn out to be a dud.

It’s a lot different than baseball.
Offense begins with the offensive line, regardless of how much everyone loves the skill position players. This will be the best O-Line LSU has had since 2003. That alone makes the offense really good. If Caleb Jackson takes a step forward, our running game production increases greatly from last year. Yes, losing JD, Nabers, & BTJ hurts, but Nuss has proven that he can lead this offense. And.. when is the last time LSU didn’t have serious talent at the WR position? A few WR’s will step up.
The offense will be more than good.

quote:Has he though? He’s just played in 1 bowl game, not sure that’s a big enough sample size. Jordan Jefferson was fantastic in his bowl game against Georgia Tech and struggled the next season. Outside of Matt Flynn in 07 each starting QB in their first year of leading the offense has had growing pains and struggled at times throughout the season. The 2nd year starting with Russell, Mett, Joe, & Jayden is when you really saw the O click.
Nuss has proven that he can lead this offense.
