1) there are enough shitheads in already, last thing you want is a draftee next to you on the battlefield. would be terrible
2) I used to be just like you about the draft dodge thing until i served. you start feeling like a pawn in a political chess game. you are never there to actually protect the US or really her interest, just there to do political bidding. Couldnt even imagine during a war like Nam, it would be 100x
i have my problems with trump, but supporting a draft is asinine and then not supporting someone because they had the smarts to see the war for what it is...its even dumber
there are plenty of reasons to love and to hate trump. the draft dodge thing is dumb. anyone that just said hell yea to running over to Nam is much dumber in my view looking back at things.

You think the vast majority of people who were drafted were excited to go over there? I fricking doubt it.
It's been interesting watching people try to flip Trump's actions into some political statement about the war. He came from money and wanted to live it up instead of serving his country.
He's a coward. Just admit that and stop making excuses.

The biggest issue with the draft is that it's a 2-3 year obligation. Between basic and AIT, that's at least 18 months right there, then as soon as that person arrives at a unit, they start the TAP process.
