Always gotta have negative Nancys to bring down everyone else’s hopes and dreams … maybe they dont want children ? Or maybe they have a plan to see them every so often, or meet up with them at various destinations ??

His oldest is at La Tech. His middle is about to get accepted to the Naval Academy, both of them are Eagle Scouts. His youngest will be on the boat with them for 2 years.

Adult kids often move across the country for work, and parents of adult kids do the same for retirement.
Why would this be any different? A plane ticket is a plane ticket.

The obligation to children ends when they reach the age of majority or finish undergrad. I would not expect children to stay close to me, so could see them. I would expect them to live their life the am way they see fit. If I am 50 and decide to sell everything and go sailing, the kids will be fine with it for the same reasons. They would expect me to live my life.
