I have friends that are River Pilots who all have said that when the power goes out you have about 2 minutes in an inland water way to get things started up again before bad things start happening.
There's this thought and then there's another thought from the other thread that it is extremely difficult to urn such a large vessel once it's under way.

These two thoughts seem to cancel each other out, prima facia.

Also, at this point at least, there is no report of a May Day -or any other- communication from the vessel.

Again, there is about zero info being released/reported.

The Search and Rescue/Recovery operation has been confirmed to be the priority and that the Coast Guard currently has jurisdiction over the ship and crew.

I would be surprised if we get a lot detailed info before tomorrow - not saying it wasn't an accident, just saying we don't have any info.

These numbers from expert interviewed by local Baltimore TV live:

US Commodities most affected by import/export at Baltimore Ports: Sugar*/Gypsum*/Coal**/AutoParts***
* #1 Port Importer
** #1 Port Exporter
***#2 Port Importer

Twitter comments are saying bridges over waterways are made to take up to a cruise ship hit. Of course depending on the way the bow hits and this or that.
