Sadly, that may be the case. There isn't the political will to balance the budget, reform entitlements, or stand firm on social issues anymore.

Yeah, that's exactly what idiot isolationists told themselves in the 19-teens and the 1930s.
We all know how well that worked out.
But sure, history doesn't repeat itself ever. There's something magical about 2024 that means that bad actors in the world will not advance if the only force holding them back retreats.
