I'm not doing this yet but when I do late April/May where it says to spray 1/8 teaspoon w/ surfacant mixed with 1 or 2 gallons of water over 1000 sq ft how do you go about doing that?

I can certainly map out a 1000 sq ft area but am I overthinking things or do I just go with a steady side to side sweeping motion across the yard with the spray nozzle?

do you have so many weeds that it requires spraying the entire yard, or could you get away with spot spray? I always try to spot spray when possible. Use the higher concentration (1/8th tsp per 1 gallon) for spot spray.

To answer your question though, it really depends on your sprayer, pressure, nozzle, etc. (ie high flow nozzle with high pressure is going to spray high volume, etc). No one can really give suggestions without knowing these factors. A constant flow valve and flat fan nozzle are preferred for broadcast applications.

I think there is enough to where I want to broadcast across the whole yard.

It's a rechargeable battery operated 1 gallon sprayer with a flat fan nozzle.

If it were me, I'd fill it with 1g of regular water, mark off a 31' x 31' area, and spray like you're saying. After 1 pass you can get a good idea (based on how much left in tank or if you run out too early) about if you need to walk slower/faster, or increase/decrease the span of your swaying side to side, etc. Shouldn't take more than a few minutes.

If you don't do this, you risk spraying too little and wasting your time, or spraying too much and nuking good grass.

It may take more than 1 two gallon of water for your to cover 1000 sf. I don't know what your total size you're spraying but a 1 gallon tank may prove difficult to work with unless you're only spraying a small area.
It takes two gallons of water for me two cover 1000sf with my sprayer. I spray a cone shaped pattern from the sprayer and go side to side through the area I'm spraying. Good luck and remember to use a surfactant.

Yes, mark off 1,000 sq feet on the street, it’ll be much easier to see what’s sprayed/wet and what’s still dry on concrete. Fill your tank with 1 gallon and try to use the whole gallon in the one area then adjust your pace off of that.

Check out the thread I just bumped. Ronk posted a chart. It’s great info.
