I was in Zwolle once on business and asked the client where I should go for the famous Zwolle Tamales. He said he would take me to the real place but I couldn't go alone. Seemed strange but then he took me to a single wide trailer way out in the woods. They had a big wood deck on the front of the trailer and they had cut a window in the side with a sliding glass and a little counter. I bought a dozen amazing tamales. But I couldn't help but notice this 400+ pound guy sitting in a nasty lazy boy chair at the end of the deck dunking whole tamales in a jar of Mayo and popping them whole into his mouth.
It was fascinating and disgusting all at once. My host did state that dipping the things in Mayo is the "Zwolle Way" to eat them. I skipped that part.

Re those tomales:
Did you ask what animal the ground meat came from? Enough chilli peppers and money becomes edible (according to a friend who did field work in Thailand.)
