Do auto insurance companies still charge more for boys than girls?

..and, if so, how do they get away with it without a lawsuit coming their way?
My other question: Does a trans (girl that thinks it’s a boy) say they are female on their auto insurance policy to claim a lower rate?

Because they have actuarial tables that show the higher risk boys have than girls. It’s the same as charging more for flood insurance for being in a flood zone. Higher risk.

But they can claim they were misgendered at birth and say female on the policy.

What if the boy identifies as a girl?

Don’t see that working for them.

Men also drive more.
Because we work more hours.

When I was coming up you had to turn 26 for your rate to go down. That for for a single male. When my son turned 26, single, twenty-three years ago his rate didn't go down. Called the agent and found out it had been raised to 30. I said WTF. He said single males were more liable to get tickets and have wrecks because they were on the road more chasing girls.
I told him you don't know the married guys I work with.

Do they have actuarial tables showing higher risk for races?
Posted on 3/23/24 at 1:25 pm to Blutarsky
Did you find out who cost insurance companies more?
Posted on 3/23/24 at 1:28 pm to Blutarsky
Yes. Boys get in more accidents, have more serious accidents, damage more property, etc. Insurance is a business.

For a while, at least, they charged more for girls. Girls started texting more with the advent of smartphones and getting into more accidents.

They probably should, but almost certainly don't.

We were told by our insurance agent that they actually charge more for girls now than they do boys due to the fact that females drive distracted more often than male

That wouldn’t be shocking at all.

There are lots of businesses that are not allowed discriminate based on race OR gender. By lots, I mean EVERY SINGLE ONE except insurance.

No.
But rate filings with the state department of insurance are based on losses to specific zip codes.

Life insurance does the same.
Health insurance used to do it before ACA. Now, everyone is lumped together in an age band. I don't even think health insurance rates (approval maybe... rates no) are affected by smoking.

I park my car when I’m at work, whether I’m there for 20 minutes or 8 hours.
I also drive a lot more when I’m not working than while I’m at work.
