Gen Z engagement/proposal shoots- how much of a surprise is it?

Seeing a lot of these the last few years where the proposal shoot is pretty extravagant. Professional photographer etc for the social media posts.
For those who are or closely related to these folks, has it seemed overly forced or take something away from it?

Someone I know had a professional photographer with them through the entire labor & delivery of their child
I’m just thankful my fiancé hates pics on social media as much as I do, we seriously considered not even having a photographer at our wedding

Social media has twisted that generation beyond repair. They are growing up in an alternate reality from the one we grew up in. I look around and don’t even recognize this country anymore.

My fiancée wants to do an engagement shoot. Why, when we’re going to spend a shite ton on wedding pics shortly after? I’m against it, but she wants it so bad. I’m not budging and I’m saving my money.

The real weird ones are half naked maternity photo shoots, what do you do with a bunch of solo pregnancy shots? Put them in your living room?

Asking for a social study that I am doing. Is your combined weight over or under 400 pounds?

Our package was an engagement shoot or an extra hour during the wedding, we chose the extra hour even though we aren’t doing all the first look stuff that’s popular now

Engagement photos are common and have always been, right? Not for the actual engagement, but after for announcements, etc.
Find a college student or recent grad that will do it for cheap.

I guess it makes a difference we are early & mid 40’s, neither one of us are big into posting our lives on social media

Only for one of us, hopes that doesn’t skew your results

How much coin are we talking for one of these?

Women are into escalating money spending against each other. Newborn pics, dance outfits, and all kinds of shite *nobody* cares about except in the 48 hours after it gets posted. But cost how much again? Have I ever looked that the pictures that were taken of my newborns after the photog delivered them? Once in a decade? For sure, ask for student loan forgiveness in five years, you deserve it, girl.
If you want to go full d!ckhead route, I have all the DVDs containing marriage photos from my ex-wife from almost 15 years ago. You know when she asked for them?
Yeah, pretty much what you thought. Totally useless. But it indicates she (ETA: your soon to be spouse) has a pretty hard devotion to being extrinsically motivated by social media feedback. That's not out of the norm for the current gen, but it's out of the norm for human beings that want to be mentally healthy. Hold the line.

I hate how Millenials and Gen Z wedded couples always feel that they need to announce to the world on social media platforms that they just proposed to someone. How fricking insecure does someone have to be to announce things about their private life on social media? It’s like they want to get attention so they can feel relevant in this world. I’ve never understood that.

There's large differences between Millennials and Gen Z.

This is the one I've always wondered about. Is this somebody hiding in the bushes to take pics of the moment or is it some lame reenactment?
