Greatest love story of all time?

Wow, I thought it would be easier to come up with one I thought qualified. Hmmmmm.
I guess I'll have to go with my personal, modern favorite, Four Weddings and a Funeral.
"I do."
DAMN, that line is so perfect. Genius.
I might have gone with The African Queen, but I think it's too allegorical to be considered a real "love story" in the traditional sense.

All kidding aside, that's not a bad choice. Movies in which the love is never fully realized always score high marks. I mean, shite, Romeo and Juliet is the apex of that. Get over the faggotry and it's pretty good.

Why am I not surprised?
Just thought of another one: Breakfast at Tiffany's. Maybe the best song, too.

I'm not surprised that monkey isn't comfortable talking about his cinematic feewings (still thinks girls are gross), but I admit I have no idea what the peanut butter and jelly thing means.
I guess Casablanca counts, but it just doesn't seem like a 100% "love story" to me.
Grease too, maybe.

I'd rather be dumb yet have love inside my heart and the confidence to express it to my fellows, than be a brilliant yet shrill and rigid little dick twiddler.
It's love, man. Let it flow out of your heart and be all flowy and shite, or at the very least less bitchy and cynical.
You can do it, dude. How about those Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan "long distance, anonymous love" movies? I'd be willing to bet you own one or the other of those classics.
But you know, I think I'm going to have to say that The African Queen really is the greatest film love story after all. It's a beautiful allegory for the relationship between a man and a woman - thier basic need for each other and journey together. Perfection.

Not a traditional love story by any means, but for some reason I'm wanting to say The Big Chill.

The Notebook is a decent love story. I didn't like it all that much, but can appreciate it as a love story.
Also, Big Fish.
Also, Big Fish.

i thought the notebook was pretty overrated. i had a couple guys tell me it was great and from a male perspective and so original, but it was pretty cliched and telegraphed. and hell, i hate watching cyclops get fricked over once again

I think Natalie Portman is just so hot.

I really liked "A Walk to Remember". Although I certainly would not call it one of the best of all time.
Would "The Princess Bride" count as a love story? If so, you have my nomination.
