Just a tip for you, there are always open beds. If you bitch loud enough they will take you back
They definitely do not always have open beds. I've seen, on a regular basis, ambulance patients on a bed waiting in the hall way, as well as treating patients with actual care in the hallway(that requires no beds but good staffing, usually done when the bulk of ER beds are filled with inpatients waiting for beds upstairs)

That happens all the time and this entire post is correct.

Don’t have open beds or staffing? We had a relative stuck in ICU bc of “no beds” and the nurse said it was staffing (and I saw plenty of empty rooms). I said no worries, but she’d better not get a bill for ICU. She was moved to ICU from her room for a night bc the evening nurse didn’t want to care for her. Released from ICU next day, but stuck there a day or 2 more bc of staffing. She didn’t get a bill.
