Not many of the younger ones will get what you're saying, but back then I followed college basketball real close and remember that day Gathers collapsed. It was a sad sight. I remember the LSU-Loyola Marymount game too. Classic.

I think he is making some analogy based off the schools.
Odd fact, Eric Spoelstra was on the court when Gathers collapsed.

I’m even more confused than before unless the analogy is that LMU’s baseball team has a lot of offense just like Westhead’s LMU basketball teams had.

Believe the analogy is due to the score. Kimble and Gathers were fantastic those 2 years. Kimbles left handed free throws will always be a memory.
