Why is Title 9 (not 6) preventing a men’s soccer team at LSU?

Because to have a football team, that counts as 85 scholarships towards men's sports. All of the random female sports at a school have to equal that. It's why most schools have only football, basketball, and baseball as the only men's sports. The rest of the sports are either strictly for women or are coed to make up for the number of football scholarships. This is why most schools don't have men's soccer, wrestling, hockey, etc. If they have those, they are usually club teams with 0 scholarships. This is also why baseball is usually full of partial scholarship players. To cut down on the number.

So have a soccer team with zero scholarships? Why not. Or ask yourself why should LSU have a soccer team or any athletic program for that matter? For your entertainment and should that be the focus of a taxpayer funded school of higher learning?

Help me understand how a major University raking in tons of money annually can’t justify scholarships to support women’s athletics or other sports for men and women. That makes no sense when the variable cost of a scholarship must be pretty small.
