Youtube
Many of you have seen the clips of Nick Saban speaking yesterday. Here is the video of the actual roundtable discussion. It's an hour and a half or so long.

Nice seeing Saban being a force for good for once. Someone needs to cap the spiraling out of control NIL/transfer nonsense.

How will gov involvement be a good thing?

Not that I enjoy answering a question with another question but…
Was government involvement good or bad for MLB? Would the MLB have made any significant changes without the hearings in 2004?

The Government doesn’t have much motivation to intervene because they are building a tax base from those that were usually not paying into the system. Athletes being 1099 filers don’t really have much time or knowledge of the tax code to take advantages of a lot of write offs so here we are

Sabans $100 handshakes and Bama booster money couldn't compete in today's market so he checked out. The Bama monopoly was broken

If you think the gov is going to act in favor of its tax base, then they have huge incentive to get involved, and streamline the pay to play concept. Creating a system of fair play gets everyone involved, not just the big boys with deep pockets...and then more athletes get paid across the board.

There’s only so many teams, and only so many athletes worthy of being paid though

Saban had no issue when he was using attorneys to funnel money to athletes to go to Bama.

He's not wrong but the person who benefitted the most from the old system crying about how bad the new system is falls flat.

I don't know what this is about. I started tuning out MLB after one of the strikes.
