read the whole thing, it's good

The Pelicans have forged one of the best teams in the league largely in the shadows, propped up by names and faces that more casual fans wouldn’t recognize. It’s a team that’s winning on both sides of variance from behind the arc—fifth in 3-point percentage and second in 3-point percentage allowed—and playing with an edge on defense that hones itself with each substitution made. There is a throne fit for a titan atop the foundation that the Pelicans have set. Fit for someone who, say, has another 20-odd percentage points of his former self left to claim. And, for the first time in a long time, it’s within reach

we’ve been coming on quietly for sure. We have the best record in the league outside of Boston over the past 6 weeks

Boston 14-3
Pels 13-4
Few teams tied at 12-5

We have played better but against not so good teams. Let's stay under the radar.

New Orleans’s various bench units, which stagger Zion and Ingram as offensive focal points, have been the bedrock of the team’s success. Depending on your perspective, that’s either a charming superpower or a peril that could rear its ugly head in a month’s time.

The division is spot on. The article touches on the defensive problems /, inconsistencies of Jonas, BI, and Zion, and they are problems that result in different combos having net negative ratings.

This team's strength is it's depth and the fact that our bench can pummel their bench. Our big minute guys keep things afloat and the bench pushes forward. I'm worried about lineups condensing and the team strength, the bench, being a decreased factor. Trey's been a huge boost lately and if he can shoot with some volume in low 40s on 3s that positive boost flips the script.
