Sutton beating Tiger in 2000 was one of their favorite moments. It had everything to do with self belief and was an extraordinary feat.

The killer instinct for that win was actually spawned at Riveria earlier that year. Hal has said a lot of that game face going into the Players came out of that tournament. I think it almost became a vendetta for him to prove to everyone that Tiger was beatable.

Hal has lead an interesting career. Started off early on with a ton of talent and quite a few wins and a major that took him holding off Jack. I think that people looked at him with lofty expectations after as the next man up to fall into the Jack and Tom category and it probably hurt him trying to reach those goals. I know he actually quit golf all together after the Ryper Cup and got into horses for a while.

Crazy to think that Hal Sutton and Robert Parish were on campus at Centenary at the same time
