I put about $400 into this over the past week and so far it’s gone up a bit but I’m always a bit fearful of some bitcoin crash. I’ve heard a little about the halving in April but I don’t know a lot about it. Am I set to really see gains with FBTC and should I be dumping more into it or should I just sit tight for now?

Bruh. It's $400. It's never going to turn into a meaningful amount of money nor will you lose a minute of sleep if it goes to $0.

I know that. I’m asking if I should be dumping more into it or not.

Not until you understand the asset class.

Read "The Bitcoin Standard" and then make an educated decision.

If you are worried about losing $400, I would not put money into volatile securities such as BTC.

These types of securities I would only put money in that you are willing to lose.

FBTC is in the high-risk portion of your investment pyramid. Invest a small amount for a high-risk/high-reward situation. Say for example, you are putting 60% in the low-risk category, 30% into medium risk, and 10% in high-risk, then maybe you put 1-3% in a BTC ETF. It all depends on your risk tolerance and allocation. I have a pretty high risk tolerance, so most of my high-risk investments are in crypto. I accept that my high-risk investments may go to $0, but I'm okay taking that risk.

If $400 a lot of money to you? If so, the volatility for bitcoin (or crypto) is not for you and you should probably move that money to a SP500 ETF.

Guys, I’m not too worried about losing $400. What I’m asking is whether or not FBTC is projected to go up along with Bitcoin or is there any reason FBTC would go down while Bitcoin goes up. Like what’s the FBTC forecast? Because I haven’t been able to find much other than Bitcoin forecasts. I’d like to get in on some 500% returns over a two or three year span if possible, so I don’t mind putting more and more into it as I’m 38 years old so I have time, even if I have to let it sit for five or more years. Just don’t want to continue dumping into it if it’s seen as a relatively stupid position to be in, that’s all.

It's basically the same as holding Bitcoin. It will follow the price.

It should mirror BTC price. It is a spot backed ETF.

If bitcoin doubles to $150k, your $400 will be worth about $800.

As long as you are ok with the occasional 50% daily loss, fast forward 10+ years and you will likely have beaten the stock market in returns.

Wouldn't we all, if that is your approach then know you are more likely to lose money then gain any. Anyone that is saying those types of returns are realistic are usually scammers.

I’m glad to be able to agree with you (about something ). Whatever the investment, that’s very good advice.

I've got FBTC too and bought it right after it was converted to ETF I believe around March 2024. I picked Fidelity b/c I used to work for them several years. I think their expense fee is competitive to the other ETF bitcoins that went live the same time.

My average buy in price is around $50 but I bought some in the mid30's the first few days so I'm up a little. The ETF will correspond with bitcoin in performance. I'm not too sure what to think of it b/c I can't figure out what the shite even is or what it's good for. It's not like oil for vehicles or gold you can wear as jewelry. I just bought it b/c everyone else likes it and didn't want to miss out. My guess is it will be extremely volatile and wouldn't be surprised if the ETF price doesn't go back at some point to it's original price and probably even BTC itself goes back down to it's 2022 low.
