I listened to that episode and others with guests of Josh dubin, and it certainly seems that there are a lot of Guys in prison who were innnocemt or where the punishment was excessive. The problem seems to be that the pendulum is swinging too far the other way and now a lot of dangerous people are released and/or charges that are far less than the crime.

The problem is the disconnect between beyond a reasonable doubt and what’s really happening.

If you consistently had good and honest police, good and honest DAs and juries that were good at critical thinking - it’d be easier to bury people under the jail once convicted, right?

But if the cop cares more about his clearance rate, and the DA about his conviction rate- you start to see sketchy cases pushed through and innocent guys in jail are the hardest part about the strictest punishments being enforced
