Because there is a difference in pounding a pulpit and actually governing when you don't have clear majorities in the House and Senate.
Republicans have a very thin majority in one chamber, so if they are going to get ANYTHING they want, they have to compromise on SOMETHING. The problem in today's political sphere is that we're so polarized that compromise isn't allowed...if you compromise you've violated the loyalty test and a Presidential candidate may give you a nickname and kill any chance you have to hold your seat.
For example, both sides support aid to Israel. For the most part, the majority both sides support aid to Ukraine (in the form of equipment that we pay Americans to replace). But we are strictly divided on aid to Hamas and the border. That's why we don't have a bill because Democrats put those poison pills in to ensure Republicans won't vote for it. Then they get to run to the media and put the blame on Republicans for not getting anything accomplished. Like I said before, Republicans are bad at politics.
It's not that they have the same positions like a uniparty would. If they did, you'd see a never ending stream of legislation coming out. Thankfully, Republicans hold just enough of a majority to prevent Dems from running everything.

These are valid points and I can understand where you are coming from.
But, I would offer that there is great risk in not pounding some kind of pulpit and reinforcing to the voting base the things you are trying to achieve and believe in while trying to seek compromise and scoring the wins you can in your day to day dealings. Otherwise, you’re relying on people to just assume/know you are.
The Democratic Party in these recent decades never seems to let anything get in the way of loudly pounding on their own bully pulpit and rallying their base to whatever cause. Even when they’ve had a slim majority or in the minority, they are always playing offense.
Who are those countering, consistent voices doing likewise for the GOP?
I truly believe a great part of Trump’s appeal is because many voters felt he was finally providing a voice to their concerns over the direction of this country.

Like I said before, the Republicans are bad at politics. But doing things like being policy experts, understanding economics and foreign policy and having principles just aren't sexy enough for voters nowadays. They want rhetoric and snake oil and loud noises, and the Democrats give them plenty.

He's a populist, of course that's his appeal.

These are not bad things but to what ultimate good are they going to be if you can’t attract voters to this message?
You and I could probably have a whole different discussion on whether voters should be attracted to rhetoric and snake oil and probably be in agreement philosophically but like it or not it’s the reality of today.
Principled is a nice virtue but isn’t going to get much done if you’re continually on the outside looking in with no ability to shape the country’s future because voters are tuning you out.

You want it too....except maybe the endless war thing.
You want free trade at the end of the day and when you go to Wal Mart or Target or buy furniture, you don't give a shite
I'm not sure they want it entirely, but we the people bitch about it, but overall we'll hire a cheap Mexican or Central American, of it means the price works....like building a house.
You want the deficit spending.Don't delude yourself, you don't want to pay taxes on the goodies you get like infrastructure plus you as a group are NOT going to turn down Social Security or Medicare. Plus Agriculture subsidies keep the farmers in business and keep our food from getting too high....or too low. We love it and the politicians love that we love it. See what happens to a MAGA if he attempts to mess with any goody for his district.....MAGA won't be doing it for long
See above, we bitch about the size, but we'll bitch more if our governmental services that we like are scaled back
Inflation......government really has no control over inflation. In fact the Fed has been obsessed since the late 70s in keeping it down. Prices though are sticky especially on food and utilities. You need it, the producers and retailers know you need it and you'll shell it out. Plus so many who are bitching no doubt took stimulus monies during Covid. Good conservative business types who took advantage of the PPP
