I like this feature.
This will help with following long threads such as pictures out of the past, the long stolen motorcycle thread from a couple of years ago, etc.
Thanks.

Hell yes this is exactly what I need for the Fail Gifs thread, I keep losing my place.

For desktop users, there is a new feature that provides a shortcut to the last page you have read in a thread.
OMG!!!!!!

It would be nice to be able to post photos simply again.

Here is how the Last Page Read feature works on the desktop version: On threads with more than one page, if your last page read is beyond page 1, you will see the icon next to the thread title on the forum index page. Clicking this icon will take you to the top of the last page you have read. This feature replaces the paging links that used to appear next to thread titles.
Just curious, it takes you to the last page, but why not take you right to the first unread post since your last visit to that thread?

Appreciate you trying to make the best message board site on the internet even better but is this feature really in demand?
But take it to another level, not just taking you to the last page you visited, but go the extra step to take you to the first unread post in a thread. That would be a legit game changer.
Same with the "new" marks on threads. If I go to the OT, and basically every thread is marked "new" then I refresh, that all goes away. It should remain, it should only no longer be marked "new" if I actually read the thread.

Thumbs up on the last page read icon.

Wait a minute.... it only brings me to the last read page, not the last read post.
Boo.

Member back over a decade ago when the ForumBB based sites could do exactly that? Ya, I member.

Please put a last page link on top of the discussion on the mobile version.

So when you scroll down the page we would be updating the database constantly? Seems like a feature that could slow down the site and hurt user experience on slow connections. Can you link a site that does this?

We need a direct message option. There are people I’ve wanted to send a link or message to without everyone seeing it
DMs, native embeds for X/Twitter and Instagram posts, spoiler tags, notifications for replies, polls, etc. All missing, all of which are baseline features for nearly every other message board on the internet.
Native embedding of X and Instagram posts is the big one for me. The fact that we still have to screencap a post, save it locally, then upload it to a hosting site and then post the image link here just so people can see the post is kind of ridiculous. No other site does this. Acceptable in 2012... but kind of ridiculous to have to still be doing this in 2024, especially for a site of this size.
The frustrating part is that they've already implemented the embed APIs from both Instagram and X into the code base here, they just don't allow users to do it.
Native X embeds.
Native Instagram embeds.

yes...it's on the short list to be developed...
Have you ever considered upgrading to vBulletin? I had 2 forums with for several years and was floored at how incredible it was. I can only imagine how far its come along now. Just a thought

Generally love your posts.
while this is clearly a better opensource forum, the idea that a site like this can just migrate to vBulletin without extreme disruption to the community is laughable. Probably not an option.

I wouldn't consider a migration to vBulletin to be an upgrade. The entire site would have to be rebuilt from scratch, and vBulletin itself has become fairly outmoded. XenForo would be a better option.
They just need to implement some modern forum functionality into this site.
