WARNING!!! Contains OPINIONS, SATIRE and FARK!

Some trends I've notice on the Fark Board recently....
1. yurintroubl has not been farking as much.
I've been working a bunch and have had vehicle trouble to boot.... I miss it here.
2. The Fark Board has sucked in a few brand new farkers, as well as pulled a couple out of retirement.
These folks are as talented/creative as they are diverse. The more contributors, the better!
3. A distinct rise in censorship.
I posted this in the Obama couple thread (the anchored one):

As one who frequents this board daily, I personally recommend great lattitude in what's allowed. Not only is it almost 100% funny, but many times it'll make you think on some of them. Less censorship is my vote.

I caught a lot of flack for the Air Force One paint-job.
A couple of others last month where it was difficult to determine if it was racially/politically motivated...

That was the thread that stout posted of the video with that guy's photoshopped drawing of a woman in a bathing suit. At first I thought they were kidding about that being banned cuz it was absolutely ridiculous, but I guess they were serious.

There ya go.... IMHO - there are far more things that are/could be offensive left untouched on the OT and the Poli Board....
There's a pretty decent level of respect for our subject matter here. If you (xBIGxEASYx) or any of the other consistent contributors/commenters took issue with an image I created - I'd happily explain where I was coming from with it... And should I realize that the offended has a valid point - I'd be happy to change/remove my image...
I just hate that these "offended" are such invisible, mute, self-appointed individuals representing an agenda that assumes we are "racist" or "un-American" or "athiest" or whatever (yet sex with farm animals is never RA'd).
I have seen hours worth of peoples' work yanked because of somebody decides to take one minute to react to a split-second knee-jerk reaction...

For farks that are done like the one in the Obama's thread, I can understand how some people might get offended. The image reference wasn't targeting his political affiliation/ideology or simply him as a person, it aimed at stereotypes specific to his race and consequently, many other people.
More than likely, whoever posted that image simply thought it was just a silly pic about Obama and had no intentions of harming anyone and simply didn't think it would impact anyone else.
I generally avoid posting things that have racial stereotypes due to the fact that they encompass such a broad group of people, some which may have been affected somehow by the use of stereotypes against them. I guess that's just the social worker in me, though.

I can also see where you may see people see the perpetuation of stereotype in the thread in question... but I see "slice of life" - perhaps exaggerated - closer to satire even... But with no malicious intent.

I didn't perceive a slam towards race in the Obama picture personally. More a play on his middle name and his willingness to deal with Nations we wouldn't normally do so with, like Iran and Syria. Having said that, this would have been great in Lincoln's left hand in it.

At times this has been the place to end a bad day and make a good day better. Some of this offends even me, but it's funny. Take it with a bucket of salt and call it a day.

I visit FARK board daily, I get a good laugh and admire the great works of Trouble, Stout, NC and Bigeasy and even Sawfiddles corny ones along with the rest of the artist. I could take offense at every female that gets farked but its SATIRE and I get it, its funny.
