Fort Lauderdale or Marco island

I have some Hilton points to burn, so planning on staying at the Hilton resort in either Fort Lauderdale or Marco island over Easter. Will have kids in tow and I haven't been to either. Can anyone recommend one over the other. It'll mostly be an R&R trip with hopefully warm enough water to swim-Thx

Totally different scenes. Lauderdale is a high rise party, Marco is a very low key spot. I think the gulf side is usually a lot warmer water.

Marco Island is an incredible place. I spent 5 days there for a work convention at the JW Marriott resort a few years back. Gorgeous place.

I was in Marco island a couple weeks ago. In laws have a place in Naples and we usually spend a day or two down in Marco.
I’d take it over Ft Lauderdale without a doubt
Weather was upper 70s. Water was too cold to get but I would guess by first week of April that would change

What resort in Ft. Lauderdale? I stayed at The Diplomat (Hilton) near Hollywood Florida this past October. We really liked it. The hotel property is right on the beach so you can go from the pool area to the beach. A lot of hotels around there (including Ft. Lauderdale) you have a road or public boardwalk between the beach.
Only thing we didn’t like about the location was it wasn’t very walkable from the resort to Hollywood restaurants/bars.

Marco Island if you just want to be laid-back Fort Lauderdale if you want a lot to do. We live in Fort Myers now and go over to Fort Lauderdale about once a month just to have something to do.

Stayed at the Hilton in Marco a few times, then tried the JW. Made the Hilton seem like Motel 6. But points is points, and the beach is great at either property.

Marco island by a long way. I’m not a fan of southeast Florida.

I’m not the original poster but now I’m interested in Marco Island. What’s the best way to get to Marco Island? Fly into Ft Myers and rent a car? Are there alternatives to renting a car?
