... You'll ALWAYS have to spray to control it creeping in if it's in your neighbors yard.
Yea, and the neighbor's lawn is the gift that keeps giving, Torpedo-wise. Always fills the yard with spillway dirt, which seems to be the birthplace of Torpedo in the NOLA area. Sounds like I'm resigned to fighting a losing battle, or accepting my fate.

I’m not the original poster but now I’m interested in Marco Island. What’s the best way to get to Marco Island? Fly into Ft Myers and rent a car? Are there alternatives to renting a car?
Fort Myers has a good, smaller airport, modern, with a nice rental car selection. As I recall it was about a 75-90 minute drive to Marco.
Centipede, with some St. Aug creeping in from the neighbor's lawn
Stayed at the Hilton in Marco a few times, then tried the JW. Made the Hilton seem like Motel 6. But points is points, and the beach is great at either property.
Torpedo Grass - Any hope, or should I concrete the lawn?

Someone recommended Otho Grass Killer, and it did just that - killed the good grass, left the Torpedo standing. A few years back I used a product called Poast with pretty good results, but I can't find it anywhere.
Any suggestions?

I have it on good authority that the Domino's jet was intercepted on approach by a Rasing Canes F15 fighter and was forced to turn back from Louisiana airspace. It was detcted by a PJ's Coffee AWACS plane circling BR
re: Talking about Hap....who were all the Saints broadcast teams?

I think Al Wester was the first
Lots of great trips down memory lane here... I too, remember the 1812 cannon explosion, but also remember the Ben Hur chariot races when one of the chariots lost control and crashed. My favorite part of old Tulane stadium was the steel upper deck - when the Saints were actually "in" a game and a big defensive play came around the foot-stomping on the steel deck was deafening!
Other favorite memories - the neighbor who painted their swimming pool like a Bud label - you could see it clearly from the ramps leading to the upper deck. Beer man with those crazy backback dispensers - looked like rocket men (hey, we had one of those land on the field once!)How about Danny Abramowitz running helmet-first into the TV camara on the sideline and getting knocked out? Or receivers getting stuck in the hedges in the south end zone. What a place!

Not sure where you live, but some states seem to have restrictions on shipping wine and spirits. I agree with the "go local" strategy.

Any GA Dome area bars that cater to Saints fans?

Man, I don't know if ND would have waited - think of the loss in recruiting time and PR spin-time
Kelly to ND if Nebraska had won?
Posted by Old Skule on 12/11/09 at 10:33 am
If the Texas field goal sailed wide it would be Alabama vs. Cincinnati for the BCS National Championship. Does Kelly pass at a chance (maybe once in a lifetime) to coach his team in the NC and pass on the ND offer (maybe once in a lifetime?)

Lot's of $$$'s - worth the investment?
My money's on this guy

besides Fess Parker, which of these are near Santa Barbara/Solvang? Heading up there for new years to check out some food and wine.
Foxen is not far, and quite a different experience. Their "tasting room" is basically a shack, manned by a fellow and a dog. If I recall it's up the valley from Zaca Mesa. Great wines in an unpretentious setting and totally laid back.

Another miracle - how is it that ESPN never scooped up this guy? He's world class and has always been. It's good to hear that his radio calls have become a staple on the national network highlight clips.
re: Best place to get a calzone in new orleans area??

Don't know about "best", but I had a really good one at a cafe called Fellini's on Carrollton near City Park
Try Adgas
There are usually some roadside stands open south of Athens, on 129/441

Pretty good place, it's the "fine dining" flagship of the Mr. Ed's group of local restaurants. Good steaks and usually good seafood specials and a nice bar area. Expect entries in the upper teens to twenties.
