A Texas company is considering building a $3.24 billion manufacturing plant in Westlake that would turn natural gas and renewable gas feedstocks into blue methanol.
The Lake Charles Methanol plant at the Port of Lake Charles would create 123 direct jobs with an estimated average annual salary of nearly $136,000, according to Louisiana Economic Development. The plant would create 605 indirect jobs in southwest Louisiana. The project would create more than 2,300 construction jobs at its peak.
The plant would turn natural gas and renewable gas feedstocks into low carbon hydrogen, while capturing carbon dioxide. The hydrogen would be used to annually produce about 3.6 million tons of blue methanol. Industrial manufacturing processes are considered "blue" when they use carbon capture to mitigate emissions.

They’re just considering it. Got a long way to go but I’ll help push it through

It will never be ready in time.
Curious if Landry can successfully chance the public participation regulations. Not sure what he wants to change but I think the gist is that the Landry administration wants to limit who can challenge permits in court. This is in response to the years long standstill for all of those plants along the Mississippi River.
