When you have shitty arse coaches who are playing favorites over legit D-1/Juco players at some schools, the system is broken. I can promise you it happens more than you realize. Kids who tear it up on summer ball teams can't find the field due to school politics.
This does happen 100%. But is it your kids involved? Parent goggles are thick. As the old saying goes, everyone says they want the best 9 on the field, but parents want the best 8 and their son.

Your new coach is more than likely already on the staff. You have issues with Mike?

I don't doubt that Daddy Ball exists, and it may be pretty widespread, but parents jump to this conclusion way too fast.
I've seen a coach (on numerous occasions) that didn't have any kids on the team, but his assistants were dads. Parents assumed the coach was playing the assistants' kids (or just playing them in certain positions) as a favor, and that their kids were better. They were completely wrong. Parents are blind when it comes to their kids.

I don't see how a coach can keep his job not playing the best 9. Keep in mind though the best 9 might not always be the best 9. If a kid can't execute coverages, cuts, tandem cuts, backups, has a bad attitude, bad work ethic. It matters not to a hs coach what a player does or doesn't do on summer team. It matters what he does on HIS team vs THEIR competition -
and if a player takes reps, plays, pitches or at bats off.... I don't care how good they are.

You can believe that but I also know first hand that summer ball is often time set up to showcase certain players. I haven't heard the term used in a while, but they even used to call those events "showcase tournaments". There's no "tournament" aspect to it. Nobody is trying to win. It's all about individual performances.
They set up the games to focus on the defensive (mainly pitchers) or the offensive aspect. I witnessed, within just a few weeks, the same teams playing and throwing their best arms against what would be a backup team. A week or so later, same teams and but the pitchers on the line-up are throwing 70-75mph batting practice straight balls.

I had a travel ball comment but not derailing this thread. Lots of good matchups this weekend.

No, just stating a fact… the next coach will be walking into a great job

Owls would be foolish not to give the job to Kal

Maybe but I’d want to see who applies…
Besides he might opt for the Holy Cross job. That’s open too
We know it won’t be Kenny. He refused the head job once before when he was the interim

Yeah, one of my favorites, but a lot of empty space in the OF that these kids are not used to
