Disappointing Mardi Gras fact..

You don’t see tits along the route anymore, and I blame the fact everyone has a camera on them…
27th year in Endymion, didn’t see one…
Back in the 90’s it wasn’t a surprise to see a set every block or two…

Truth!
I rode Endymion for 5 years back in the late 80’s. 100’s & 100’s of girls showed their boobs. I have a few friends that ride now and they all say none to be seen.
Smart phones and social media are the culprits.

and you would be wrong
cops targeted indecent exposure as job 1 and had special little group of officers doing just that and nothing else. the last 10-15 years they were throwing anyone who did it in jail, that is why it has gotten so rare, people just got tired of being arrested.
mardi gras used to let a little nudity go, but not any more. its not like it used to be where they didnt try to enforce the indecent exposure rules.

It's been like that for a while. On the route at least.
Early 2000s when I was in college, we were at Endymion in a very non-kid area, one of the girls who was with us lifted her shirt, and cops came flying over to tell her to cover up and not do that again, as "this is not Bourbon St".
The mentality for a while now has been, you want to do that, go to Bourbon, they don't care there, but they don't want it on the route.

I rode from 96-2003 in Hercules. In that time I probably saw 5-6 good sets of tits total. A lot of chicks would walk up to the float and pull their shirt away so you could see down it, I'm not counting those . Now, before the Parade when we were riding around town...... that was a site to behold.

Back in the mid 90’s we used to go watch on Napoleon and Perrier neutral ground area. Same group of 4-5 couples and kids.
One year, another couple joined us with their 2 kids. We’re all lined up with ladders etc and the new mom started pulling up her shirt on every float.
The husbands were like “yes”! Cool.

Early 2000s was when they started their crackdown. They were even stopping them on bourbon street.
Here is an article from 2000 when they announced the crackdown, but police still weren’t doing much. They ramped up in 2001 and started giving out tickets for boobs and arrested people if they showed genitalia.
