I think most people have hit the main points... have been around longer, accessibility but I think experience is a huge part of it. It's hard to attend SEC Saturdays in the fall and not get swept up and invested. It's a whole weekend cultural event that celebrates your region.... That just doesn't happen in the NFL. Bills mafia maybe gets the closest but also NY doesn't have a CFB team w that experience so that tracks.
The Big10 has some great campus atmospheres, but as a whole I just don't think the north compares to the south when it comes to CFB gameday experience and I think the south has responded accordingly.
