"Shout" by Tears for Fears is far better than "everybody wants to rule the world" and "Head Over Heels."
I sat down and listened to Shout with headphones the other day (don't think I ever have). And it is such a great, well crafted, song.
But as for my pick, it would have to be something from Floyd. So many great ones. I could say "Time" or "Money" or any number of others. But I'd probably pick "Shine on You Crazy Diamond."

quote:Shout is my least favorite song from them. The chorus is just terrible. Head over heals isn't great either. Tope tier are EWTRTW, Change and Mad World.

I love Floyd. I have that quirky thing that a lot of guys who go into engineering do, I look for patterns without actually realizing I do that. Because of that (I think) I feel like Wish You Were Here is close to a perfect album. It took me a little while to realize why I thought that. The album is like a bell curve for me in the way it stirs my emotions.
Shine On You Crazy Diamond Parts I–V
Welcome to the Machine
Have a Cigar
Wish You Were Here
Shine On You Crazy Diamond Parts VI–IX
Pulls me in a little on Shine On You Crazy Diamond Parts I–V, peaking at Have a Cigar with Roy Harpers on vocals, then guiding me back down to where I started on Shine On You Crazy Diamond Parts VI–IX.
Not only no bad songs, no mediocre songs, to me they are all great songs. Have a Cigar is the one I think of as close to perfect as any.
The beauty of subjective art forms like music, though is no song will ever be perfect for everyone or even a majority of people.
