So you're the only business in the US that didn't just easily pass on inflation to the customer?

It’s not that simple. 2023 was awful for us in the catfish industry due to high inputs and we can’t simply raise prices because you have to compete with cheap imports. It’s tough enough as it is. Of course Biden admin recently proposed taking away all tariffs on the imports which will just make it that much worse on us

ETA not to mention high interest rates. 10% on a 4 million dollar line of credit fricking sucks

Just raise prices, retard.

My name is Big Scrub TX and I am very successful. Take my word for it. Listen to me and raise those GD prices and stop bitching about inflation and bad policies that put Americans last!

When my husband sells his crop, he can hold out on an offer from the mil .. but he can’t just “raise his selling price” lol. He’s at their mercy. Literally.

And yes 10% interest fing sucks .. we only have I think 1.5mil line but it does suck.

Serious question: How much basa is coming in and how much is it cutting into the domestic producers? Curious...not going anywhere with this other than information. I knew some guys 20 years ago in NOLA that were at the forefront of bringing it in, but had stopped after a while because the Vietnamese were not as reliable as the Chinese as suppliers ( Chinese were doing White Shrimp and crawfish...not basa). How much of the market is it eating up?
