There were two in particular that I watched when I was like 4 years old that freaked me out and I was in college before seeing them again.
ET: I just think I found the whole movie kinda scary
Ghostbusters: When the Terror dog escaped and chasing Rick Moranis, that I found to be soooo scary.

IT with Tim Curry terrified my 5 year old eyes and I was terrified of clowns for a while
As an adult I find IT hilarious and I appreciate Tims performance as Pennywise

Children of the Corn. There was always a small corn patch between us and our grandparent's house. It was my grandfather's. My brother and I walked or rode our bikes on the road to avoid it for a few months.

Not a movie, but Salem's Lot miniseries.

This was on frickin' TV for all kids to see in 1981...it would be rated R today.
Then it was released on VHS with no rating.
But it was released overseas as 18 and older.
I tell you, America wasn't shy about made for TV movies in the 80s

I’ve said this before on here, but Silver Bullet absolutely fricked me up as a kid.
And of course Jaws. The movie itself didn’t scare me but it damn sure affected me literally every time I was in deep enough water. There were times I’d be swimming in a pool at night and freak out a little in the back of my mind about that shark.

Child’s Play when I was a kid. It’s a comedy now.

Alien, Predator, Friday 13, scream, Halloween, etc. didn’t watch any of them till my 30s.
I’m still not a big horror guy.

For me, it was Frankenstein (1931). It aired on regular television in the early 70’s when I was young, and my parents were watching it with my oldest siblings. I snuck out of bed to get a glass of water, and I was jealous that my older siblings got to watch a movie with my parents! That was a rare occurrence!
I caught the scene where the monster is with the little girl who gives him a flower by the lake. The visual of that scene, knowing that tragedy is about to strike, and the pure innocent ignorance of the young girl who is about to be killed, oh my god, I was haunted by that scene.
I didn’t know watch the whole movie until I was in my 50’s!

It was Helter Skelter for me too. I don't think I was 10 and have no idea how I ended up seeing it. Maybe the title looked cool in the TV guide, and I know my parents didn't know I was watching it.
At that age, I hadn't seen evil before. I don't think I've ever watched it again.

I had nightmares off and on for months after watching The Relic when I was around 12 or 13, so I wasn't that little but not sure why it got to me so much.

I was a pre-teen when "The Town That Dreaded Sundown" came out on the new "HBO" in the late 70's and I watched it at home alone as 12 Y/o and it scared me so bad that to this day I won't watch it.

The original Evil Dead rattled me pretty good.

Darkness Falls
Holy shite I thought I was the only person who had seen this.
Watched it in theaters as a 7th grader and got some of my first tonsil hockey action from a cute girl named Becca. Fond memories, but yeah that movie sucks rewatching it as an adult.
Also the lead actor died a few years later of a drug overdose. He seemed charismatic and talented enough to have a decent career.
