I was a UPS driver back in the 80's and 90's. One day I was delivering a package to some guy and he didn't want to sign for it because he wasn't expecting anything. The name on the label didn't provide a clue who shipped the package to him. I flipped the package over and it had been stamped "Cremation Papers Inside". It creeped me out and I almost dropped the package in front of the guy.

am pretty sure it is illegal to ship remains by any method other than the USPS.
Postal service wants to make sure those remains never make it.

I shipped my BIL ashes to his family after my sister died. I used UPS & dont remember what I told them was in the package. I think I said family photos which were also in the box.
His mom asked me to send them when I was cleaning out the house.

I am convinced my wife and her brother have lost their mothers remains. She and I had them in Italy just after her death and at some point she gave them to her brother, she claims. He claims she still has them. They do not know, as far as I know, that the other one has no idea where they are and thinks the other one has them somewhere. I have casually asked both of them - to my wife "did you ever give your mom's urn to your brother"? She will answer yes.
I have asked my BIL "have y'all ever done anything with your mom's ashes" to which he will respond "not yet, (My wife's name) has them". Neither of them have ever asked the other and it ain't my place to whack a hornets nest.
I'm going to be cremated and I don't give a damn what anyone does with my remains but I have asked that they do it immediately before they forget and some old boy buys a storage unit at auction and finds the damned things....just dump 'em anywhere, what do I care, but don't put some poor bastard in a position to have to deal with them.

Sounds like Hell...

Only way to ship cremated remains is through USPS, if UPS discovered what it was they probably confiscated it.

However, UPS said in a statement it does not accept shipments of human remains, and the package’s contents were declared by the customer as “clothes.”

She got it.
UPS paid her about $200 and she signed a paper that the matter was officially closed.
She doesn't seem to know what "closed" means.
Nor does she know about laws pertaining to shipping human remains.
There are a lot of things that she doesn't know.

Well, I've made it perfectly clear I want my remains to be scattered throughout Disneyworld. Also, I don't want to be cremated.

I wouldn’t think UPS would use our labels

Not what Deontray had in mind when he said he wanted to get his ashes hauled.
