Most places won’t let you take vacation for the first 6 months. I cancelled going to Austin for the 2019 lsu-Texas game when I first hired on because I didn’t want to be that guy that takes off the first weekend he’s scheduled to work. First impressions are important to me, others not so much so. If you spend thousands of dollars maybe so, but maybe don’t schedule a vacation while looking for a new job

red flag to not work there if it's smoothing you discussed.
shite, even if you tell them during the interview and they say no, don't take the job because that's how it's going to be going forward.

This just isn't true. Maybe in your field it is common, but most decent work environments don't shite on employees by rule. Hiring and training is expensive. The challenge really is if the employer accrues vacation time, there's no way a new employee really has it banked early on...

You can't really schedule around a job search. Some companies may hire you on the spot, while others drag the process out for months.

I dont know ur exact circumstances- and i was at that game, it was incredible- but wouldnt it have made more sense to , when you get hired and are discussing your start date- if you had just said “Yeah im able to start on ____ (the Tuesday after that LSU/Texas game weekend)? Ive never started a job where it wasnt discussed what day/week id be available to start work, that would be feasible for myself and for the employer .

I went to that game. I'm going out on a limb and say I will remember that weekend a LOT longer than anyone from your company will recall their first impression of you.

I don't know who you work for, but in my 40 year accounting career I have had exactly -0- employers that didn't let you take vacay during the first 6 months.
