River houseboat

I see these for sale, mostly in Alabama and Mississippi rivers, fairly often. Legally, how does this work? Am I just allowed to anchor in a cove semi-permanently and its legit as long as I have registration numbers? How do you title it?
Also, I have two big dogs I love. If I buy somewhere to stay on weekends, I'd like to have them come with me. They are active and playful and probably dont want to sit on that 5'x10' porch all day. How do you deal with this? Seems maybe this isn't the play if I have those dogs.

Depends where you want to anchor it, in the Atchafalaya Basin you have to get a houseboat campsite lease and it must have a Coast Guard approved sewer tank.

it’s a grey area
you cannot tie up to a bank or trees on a bank without landowner permission. You can anchor but you cannot block a navigable waterway. You cannot anchor in a private canal (landowner owns the canal bottom).
In the real world, locations where you can anchor out of the way, and easily get your boat to it, are few and far between
Your best bet is to contact the landowner where you want to be, get permission and sign a lease if necessary. Understand that if you anchor, the camp is going to swing and storm surge depending on location can and will lift the camp off the anchors
Treat it as a surprise every time you pull up and the camp is still there and floating

Just the opposite in fact
leave the front door unlocked
have a lockable closet inside with a steel door behind which you keep everything you don’t want to lose
an open door will keep them from breaking in/causing damage. Also, it’s kind of an unspoken tradition that you leave it open in case someone needs shelter for whatever reason. I have absolutely spent many nites in a strangers camp after getting lost, breaking down, etc

Tons on the Florida panhandle also on the Choctawhatchee and Appalachicola rivers but most of the land is WMA. A lot of guys will put them next to open areas on the rivers so they have some hard ground to work with.
Definitely some sketchy arse camps passing them on a small back finger of a creek at night in the middle of nowhere always makes me worry someone is cooking up meth.

I think I saw this same one yesterday. I am in the market for one, but have no idea how I'd get it back over here.
