yeah Michael was the biggest name on the planet at that time.
Springsteen was pretty much at his popularity peak and was massive also.

while Ray Charles and Bob Dylan were no longer on the top of the world, you could tell that they were revered even by that huge group of stars.

Cyndi Lauper's fame only burned at its brightest for a brief moment, but at that time she was right on Madonna's arse in popularity.

Was Madonna invited? I don’t recall hearing her name mentioned.

I don't think you could ever find a person in the history of humanity that looked as uncomfortable as Bob Dylan... Until he sang his part and everyone said he nailed it... His facial expressions while everyone was singing the chorus was frickin priceless!!
