Who gives a shite if someone "hates" us? That's an infantile emotion. Respect is what are actions should be geared around.
I think there's damn few places in the world worth getting 19-20 year old American men killed over, but running scared because someone might "hate" us is not the reason to restrain from using force. There are other, more rational reasons to justify not using armed force.
