We asked our real estate agent about this. Her exact words, "if you ever plan on selling this place, not a good investment".

What Size Solar System do you have?
He has to be close to 100% offset if not a little higher. Typically you can’t interconnect more than 100 -110%.
Unless you confuse the shite out of the mostly dumb utility worker and you end up with 300% like my ranch system.

Thank goodness. Good riddance to this con artist industry.

The true cost of solar panels exceed the lifetime savings on your electric bill.
Exactly

I've always wondered what happens when you need a new roof when you have solar panels mounted on it? I am sure having to remove all the panels then put them back would not be cheap and not government subsidized either.
Yes.. I have wondered the same thing.
Yes.. I have wondered the same thing.

R&R is about 2k. Any reputable company won’t put them over a shitty roof, especially when the cost of the roof under the PV system can get rolled into the ITC. Anyone underwriting loans or leases for these require a roof condition survey before funding the install.

The cost of capital squeeze is forcing all the shitty players out and will hopefully suppress the customer acquisition cost. The sales bros have owned the biggest part of the cost stack for too long. It’s bad then the top 100 sun run sales reps made more than the CEO.

The answer are true Solar roofs like what Tesla is doing. There still too expensive for most homeowners though.

Most people have no idea what the cost stack looks like. Good equipment is about $1/W wholesale.

Then too there are the vulnerability issues. They don't do well in hail storms or hurricanes.
That is some large hail. It takes a some strong hail to do that to a solar panel. That hail would have beat an asphalt shingle to hell and back and that metal roof underneath the solar is 100% getting replaced.

My answer from earlier...
quote:
95% when someone gets a new roof, it's because insurance is paying for it. Insurance pays to "detach and reset" solar panels. They'll pay for new panels themselves if they are damaged by the storm but will only pay to take them down and reinstall if they aren't damaged.
Seen insurance companies not pay for the section where the solar panels are though since the shingles underneath weren't damaged from the storm. Most of the time we can get the whole roof paid for but crappy insurance companies like Allstate and State Farm will try to screw the homeowners and just do a partial replacement.

Ya'll love to hate on solar but mine paid for themselves in about 5 years.
It's nice having a $50 electric bill in the summer when it's 108 out and my neighbors are paying $500+
They are hideous though. I couldn't do that to my neighbors.

Who gives a shite about what the "true cost" is from an individual perspective? He paid $5k. That is what matters to this individual. Yeah, tax dollars subsidized it, but that is not part of this equation.

I never said anything political. I explained the other guy's argument to you as if you were a 3rd grader so you would understand.
You lose and then just start up with juvenile shite. You act like this every time you are set straight?
You owe about 100k for each person in your household because of spending like this. It absolutely matters.

The investment tax credit is no different than people getting to right off mortgage interest. Some of y’all need a lesson on direct pay versus tax rebates.
