I've lived in no income tax Texas all my life. Either way they'll get their money.
Increased property taxes, sales taxes, increased fees and permits for this and that.. some will be state and some will be local.

But it's easier to bitch about one area of taxation and maybe get it lowered than have it all coming from one source. And I can choose what I buy and pay sales taxes on.
And I like skipping the state section in tax software.

My state and local tax burden in texas is a helluva lot less than it would be to Louisiana.

I don’t mind increased sales tax. Everyone who buys something will contribute rather than roughly half who don’t pay any income taxes. An increase in sales tax won’t come close to impacting me like income taxes do. I can’t begin to explain my hatred towards paying income taxes when there is very little perceived return on the investment.
