In 2021, the NFL approved changes requiring every team to interview at least two external minority candidates for open head coaching positions and at least one external minority candidate for a coordinator job. Additionally, at least one minority and/or female candidate must be interviewed for senior level positions (e.g., club president and senior executives)

You are correct. Apparently was expanded in 2020. In my defense, I quit watching the NFL when they screwed the Saints out of another Super Bowl.

In that case I’d suggest not speaking so confidently about NFL rules

It's actually now part of the Rooney Rule that NFL teams have to interview *two* minority candidates for coordinator positions. They can be virtual interviews. Only need to interview *one* for position coach slots.

So we’re really going with Raheem only interviewing to satisfy rooney rule?
Interesting take

For OC? Yes. I'd go ahead depend on the reports being accurate about them wanting Zac Robinson as the OC.

It’s not a diss to Hankton, it’s just simple math.
Every plugged in NFL person immediately posted that Zac Robinson would likely land in ATL with morris. That doesn’t happen without some actual legs to it.
Teams often use the coordinator interviews to not only interview the candidates they are hiring, but also the ones they are interested in at position coaches. hankton also happened to coach 2-3 players who the falcons will be in great positions to draft at their spot that they can also glean info out of.
They need to fulfill those requirements either way. Hankton is likely a target for them, just not as OC. And if he never goes there, they can still get a lot of good value out of that interview

The Rooney Rule only applies to HC.

Saw Jerry at the gas station in Florida not long ago he lives here with his wife. Looks happy and retired but he is one of the best ever.

That's crazy. I heard someone on ESPN, one of the national radio shows, they were talking about somebody for a job he specifically said it was only for HC that the rule was in place. That's on me. I heard somebody talking about it and assumed he would know because he was in the NFL and was a national radio personality. My bad.
Posted on 1/27/24 at 4:41 pm to 7Tiger7
Dude has less than zero chance to get that job

I mean Hankton was at LSU what one year or two? He didn’t recruit Nabers or Brian Thomas jr. The reason they got better was Jayden Daniels starting throwing the ball. I mean Hankton gets alittle credit but not that much. I mean I want him to stay but if that's all it takes to get a job in the NFL then damn.

Yea, it’s hard to believe Hankton is a legit candidate for OC at any level.

Don't be hard on yourself. Funny thing is, not even the NFL website has it right. The teams really are required to interview 2 minority candidates for coordinator positions. That just changed this year.
